A Tennessee man who bought a cat and gave it a nice house has now been charged with animal cruelty, authorities said Tuesday.
Craig Huntley, 30, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of animal cruelty and animal neglect, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Huntley’s wife, Michelle, who owns a local pet store, told police that she noticed that the cat wasn’t eating and wasn’t in good health, according with the FBI.
The animal was taken to a veterinary clinic in Knoxville, and the cat was later euthanized.
The cat had been in a shelter and was not getting enough food, the FBI said.
Huntley was charged with one count of animal neglect.
Michelle Huntley told the FBI that her husband had been abusive to his dog, which she said was named Puff, in the past.
