The pet food industry is still trying to catch up to the market.
And while the price for pet food continues to rise, so too do its competitors.
Pete North and Paul Best are among those who say they are looking at alternatives to pet food brands.
North, who owns and operates the pet food brand PetSmart, says the industry has a lot of options.
“You can do a lot more with less,” North told Bloomberg TV.
He says he’s focused on developing a pet food that he believes people want.
He points to the growth in the pet-food market as proof.
Pet Food Prices Rise Pet food prices continue to rise for some consumers.
The Food and Drug Administration reported that pet food prices rose 1.6 percent in January, according to the latest data from the agency.
Food and Drug Safety reported that prices for pet foods rose 0.3 percent in February.
The agency also said that prices of pet food products rose 5.7 percent in March.
