Manchester United have confirmed that Paul Pogban has suffered a knee ligament injury.
It is understood that Pogba, who has been training in the absence of injured star Robin van Persie, will be sidelined for the rest and will miss the entire season.
The 27-year-old is still recovering from a knee reconstruction and has yet to be assessed for his availability for Saturday’s visit of Chelsea.
However, Louis van Gaal has named Pogba and Van Persie in his starting XI for Saturday night’s game at Stamford Bridge, with Paul Pogben coming in for Paul Pogdanovic.
“He is a player that can play,” Van Gaal said.
“The other player is Robin van pers and he will also be out for a while. “
“That is what we will see at the end.””
With Van Persi ruled out for several weeks, Pogban could see his availability limited at Stamfordbridge.”
