According to the latest data from the Pet Food and Grooming Manufacturers Association, pet food is the third worst source of allergens in the US, behind only dairy and meat.
Pet food is ranked fifth overall, behind chicken, fish, eggs and meat and behind poultry, eggs, and milk.
The survey by the Petfood and Grocery Manufacturers of America (PFGMA) revealed that only 27% of pet food manufacturers surveyed said that pet food products had been tested for food allergies.
Only 15% of respondents said that the food was free of allergeners.
The pet food industry, however, has been fighting back by claiming that pet foods are a safer alternative to meat and dairy.
A recent report from the US government found that pet owners are more likely to consume animal-derived products, including dog food, than human-derived food.
PFFA, however has come under fire in the past for its handling of the food industry’s concerns.
The organisation is owned by the American Pet Products Association (APPA), a lobbying group which is largely comprised of food and pet food companies.
The APPA has repeatedly argued that pet products are safer than meat and that pet parents need to take responsibility for the safety of their pets.
Petfood manufacturers are often seen as part of the problem.
For example, according to the Pew Charitable Trusts, the industry is responsible for 30% of the pet food deaths in the country.
However, pet owners themselves are often blamed for pet food allergies, with studies showing that people are far more likely than their pets to get sick from pet food containing the same types of allergents.
The Petfood Manufacturers Assn.
also recently launched a new campaign, Petfood Safe, in an attempt to combat the problem of pet-related food allergies and the backlash it has received from pet owners.
The campaign focuses on educating consumers about pet food ingredients and explains the risks and benefits of pet foods.
The new campaign also focuses on the safety and health of pet owners by highlighting the importance of ensuring that pet animals have access to food that is free of allergenic ingredients.
The initiative also aims to provide the pet industry with a new and improved tool to educate consumers on the risks of pet feeding and the benefits of using a pet food free of certain allergens.
PetFoodSafe.org says that its aim is to educate pet owners about the benefits and safety of using their pets food to meet their pet’s dietary needs.
According to a PetFoodSafety.org spokesperson, the campaign will be rolling out over the next few months.
