Pete’s, a popular New York-style pizza chain, has been forced to issue a statement about its plans to move to Canada.
The company said in a statement to The Hindu that it would be “fully committed” to the company’s Canadian operations.
However, the company added that it is “deeply concerned” about the recent protests in India, and is “working with our partners to help ensure that we can continue serving our customers in Canada in the future.”
The statement did not specify what action it was taking.
The Hindu is not the first to report on the controversy, which has been brewing for months.
In March, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a gathering of business leaders in New Delhi, called for an end to protests.
“No country, no country can tolerate this kind of violence,” he said, according to the Associated Press.
“It must stop.”
